High-energy, dance-friendly, bluegrass-powered music from northern Idaho
The Moscow Mules (est. 2017) are a three-piece string band from Moscow, Idaho, who play an eclectic mix of high-energy acoustic music. A night of music with the Mules spans the spectrum from original bluegrass to contemporary jamgrass to rapid-fire, banjo-fueled arrangements of Grateful Dead tunes and a wide variety of 60s-80s rock songs.
The Mule-team consists of Sean Long (guitar, vocals), Paul Hohenlohe (banjo, dobro, vocals), and Elias Paxton (upright bass, vocals). The Mules are two-time winners of the Moscow Rendezvous In the Park showcase (2018, 2021) and won the vote for “Best of Local Bands” in the 2023 University of Idaho “Best of Moscow” series. The Mules have headlined the Moscow Bluegrass Festival (annually since 2020) and the Valley Bluegrass Festival in Orofino, ID (2019, 2023).
